Good photo of covering board details.  The curly maple was a special order for this boat.  Normally, we work with mahogany or ash.  Also shown with optional aft-deck cooler.

This Lightning Bug makes it home on Rowan Lake at the Hook & Horn Wilderness camp.  This remote location is nestled in amongst vast virgin forests and is accessible by float plane.  Not many of our customers can claim to see moose on a daily basis but they do.  The boat has an ash deck with a royal blue hull, gold and white stripes and red bottom.  Photo by owner

This photo was taken at the 2001 Wooden Keels and Classic Wheels show held annually at the Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, Texas.  The boat took first place in it's class at Texas' most prestigious classic boat show.

This photo shows well the quality that goes into the Lightning Bug's drive train. The bronze strut is designed for minimal drag while still providing adequate protection in case the boat run aground. The hydrodynamic shaped rudder reduces stalling in tight turns, while the outer keel provides just enough lateral resistance to keep the boat steady in a crosswind.  The water pickup sends cooling water to the boat's maintenance free shaft seal.

Photo shows The Lightning Bug's optional built-in cooler.  Large enough to hold two bags of ice and 10-12 drinks or a few bottles of wine.  There is an overboard drain so there is no need to empty the ice.
